Screw Machining of a Brass Shaft for the Automotive Industry

At S & H Glenco Manufacturing, LLC, we offer screw machining services that can provide precision-made parts and products for the most demanding projects and applications. Our expertise, flexibility, and willingness to provide consistent work on large volumes have made us into a valued partner for commercial and industrial customers.

We recently assisted an automotive customer through the long-term production of a 0.477″ long, 0.250″ diameter brass shaft. Manufacturing required a variation of our screw machining process, one that could add a knurling step. Either free cutting brass alloy No. 360 or high leaded brass was used to manufacture each example, per customer requirements. Most shaft surfaces were left unfinished but certain areas were machined to 63 RMS as requested. We also achieved a tightest tolerance of ±0.002″.

We still presently manufacture this piece for the customer, with 400,000 units released annually.

As a contract manufacturer specializing in screw machining, we stand alone in providing high precision manufacturing of small parts at such high volumes. Learn more about our services by seeing the table below and contact us directly.
