CNC Screw Machining of a Stainless Steel Solenoid Seat for the Sprinkler Industry

At S & H Glenco, we are an established source for CNC-enabled screw machining services. Operating a facility capable of completing 100,000 units per week, we provide a level of design flexibility and consistency in quality that few other precision manufacturers are able to offer.

We were recently contracted to fabricate solenoids seats for use in automated sprinkler valves. Measuring 0.180” by 0.125” in diameter, these precision products would need to be built with tight tolerances to ensure successful valve operation.

We manufactured the solenoid seats using a combination of CNC screw machining and a follow-up deburring step. This would allow for high output and excellent precision, with tolerances reaching ± 0.002”. 303 Stainless Steel was used as the build material, offing an excellent combination of machinability, strength, and accuracy. We continue to build this product for the customer, with 5,000,000 units produced annually.
